On Galaxy's Edge: Ascendance
The first On Galaxy's Edge book.
Long ago, in a time when few records were kept, Earth was evacuated. No one knows the reason, but they do know the result. The inhabitants of the old Earth left, never to return, and settled on other planets throughout the galaxy. Atmospheres were seeded to create a vast number of new homes, and the old Earth was forgotten, lost in the dim recesses of time. And for a time, life was good for mankind... yet things will ever change.
Countless centuries later, there is great division in the galaxy. The mighty Central Systems Government, ruling with a relentless power, largely neglects the planets on the edge of the galaxy. There is little food, little medicine, and a slim chance of survival. Yet it is on one of these planets where there lives a boy named Nero. When one of the many petty criminals on the planet takes everything from him, he tumbles into the vast criminal underworld himself. And very quickly, as he grows up, he begins to make a name for himself.
On a world where morals are a luxury, and survival is the only goal, how far is Nero willing to go to survive, and to rise above his ignoble origins? And what happens when he begins to attract the attention of a most terrible and powerful organisation?

On Galaxy's Edge: Beginnings
A short story set a couple of years prior to 'Ascendance'.
Me’ryn is a mess. The planet has been under the control of an old Governatore for decades, but on the edge of the galaxy, supplies are limited. The Governatore has sequestered many precious resources for himself, and the elite ruling class on the planet. They have food, drink, vehicles, parties, and a life of extravagant luxury, the envy of the rest of the planet. But the rest of the planet resents this. They have very little. Taxes keep going up, security enforcement keeps rising, and it is getting harder and harder to survive. More and more bodies can be found on the streets, and no one can spare the effort to clear them away.
The time has come for this to stop. A rebel activist, going by the name ‘Zal’, has had enough. He and the other rebel leaders have been quietly working on a resistance movement, and over the years many thousands, perhaps millions, of the planet’s citizens have joined the movement. In secret, they have been organising protests, and staging rallies. All are quickly put down by security forces, but awareness amongst the population is building. Tensions are as high as they’ve ever been, and the Governatore rules with as harsh a regime as he always has. The time is finally coming for a cataclysmic clash.
The only question remains, will the rebels be able to overthrow the entrenched rulers? And will they be able to do this without attracting notice of a most terrible and powerful sort?
